Program

Performances will occur at 515, 530, and 545pm ET, approximately.

Entrance: Preparation

Walking Score 1:

We are using this walking time to come into our bodies as senses. As you walk notice:

  • 5 things you can see
  • 4 things you can hear
  • 3 things you can touch
  • 2 things you can smell
  • 1 thing you can taste

Order of Performance

January 6 and 13: Yield

Performer: Nicole Perry
Choreographer: Nicole Perry

Move and Reflect:

Legacies, ancestries, trees, and plants all come into being because of roots.
Try walking toe-ball-heel for a few steps, and then heel-ball-toe. Feel your feet making momentary roots to the earth to support you. What would this feel like in a mangrove? On sand? In the grass?
As you move today, reflect on your own roots.

January 20: Finding the Next

Performer: Joanna Asch
Choreographer: Nicole Perry with Joanna Asch

Move and Reflect:

We each have our own kinesphere. Yet, as we move through this experience together, the group creates its own kinesphere. Additionally, every living creature on earth shares the kinesphere of the earth. As we walk, oscillate your awareness between your personal space, group space, and world. How does your energy change with your perception? What do you notice in your body? What stories do you tell yourself?

January 27: Let it Go

Performer: Ricky Morisseau
Choreographer: Nicole Perry with Ricky Morisseau

Move and Reflect:

Make a gesture or movement that means "letting go" to you.  What do you let go of when you step into nature? What do you let go of when you step back into our urban, clock-time life? What do you need to let go, for your own peace?

Share your experiences with us!

Each performance offers a moment for you to create your own art based on what you have witnessed, observed, felt, and experienced through this time. This is a space for you to honor your kin for what they have taught you or given you. It is a space to give back a gift of creativity to nature, who is constantly creating for us. You can:
  • Draw
  • Write
  • Record
  • Dance

Consider sharing your movement phrases, reflections, photos, videos (If you post photos or videos on IG please tag the dancers using their handles in their bios!), or other artwork with our camera, on the KINesphere Jam Board or in this Drive folder (you can do that now, or upload it when you get home), leave it with Nicole or Ilia, or send it to Nicole later at nicoleperydance@gmail.com .

We would also appreciate your feedback via this survey. In fact, some of the questions here might be a great way to jump start your own creative making at this time. Plus, it really helps us with our grant reporting.

You may leave in your own time, to explore, play, sit in reflection or leave.
Thank you for joining us!
